What is Pregnancy Due Date?
The Estimated Due Date (EDD) is the date your baby is expected to be born. Standard pregnancy lasts approximately 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) — even though conception typically happens around day 14.
This method, known as Naegele’s Rule, has been used by obstetricians worldwide since the 19th century and remains the standard clinical approach for estimating gestational age and planning prenatal care.

My cycle is not 28 days. Will this calculator be accurate?
This calculator assumes a standard 28-day cycle. If your cycle is shorter or longer, your actual ovulation and conception date differ, making the EDD estimate slightly off. An early ultrasound provides a more personalized EDD.
What if I do not know my LMP date?
An early ultrasound (ideally at 6–10 weeks) can estimate gestational age accurately by measuring the crown-rump length of the embryo and calculate a revised EDD.
Is a 37-week baby considered full term?
Babies born at 37–38 weeks are “early term.” Full term is 39–40 weeks. Late term is 41 weeks. Babies born before 37 weeks are preterm and may need additional medical support.
